CPR w/ Asthma and Anaphylaxis Training Brisbane
Overview: 

This combined cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and asthma/anaphylaxis course gives participants the basic skills and knowledge if they were required to maintain a person’s life in an emergency situation until help arrived (CPR component).

In the asthma component participants will learn what asthma is; how to recognise asthma; who gets asthma and why; how you can help someone with asthma, and minimising the risk of exposure to triggers in children’s services. In the anaphylaxis component of this course participants will learn allergies and anaphylaxis; recognising signs and symptoms; managing and treating an allergic reaction (including administration) and minimising the risk of exposure to allergens in children’s service. This asthma and anaphylaxis course is a national requirement in childcare facilities to work as a childcare worker.

Pre-requisites:

Participants must have basic computer skills and access to a reliable computer with internet and email access. Mobile phones or tablets are not compatible with the online training portion of this course. As an assessment requirement of the HLTAID009 unit, participants must be able to perform at least 2 minutes (5 cycles) of CPR on an adult resuscitation manikin that is placed on the floor.

Licence & Regulatory Requirements: 

It is recommended by the Australian Resuscitation Council (ARC) that HLTAID009 Provide cardiopulmonary resuscitation is completed every 12 months to remain current and update with the ARC guidelines. It is recommended by industry councils and legislation that the Asthma and Anaphylaxis component is renewed every 3 years.

On successful completion participants will be issued with a Statement of Attainment with the following units:

22556VIC Course in the Management of Asthma Risks and Emergencies in the Workplace
22578VIC Course in First Aid Management of Anaphylaxis

Option 1:

Pre-course work:

Online/self-paced training (approximately 2-4 hours depending on the individual learner and their personal circumstances and other commitments). This online training involves reading interactive modules and then using the knowledge learnt to complete exams. Online training must be completed prior to the face-to-face training.

Face-to-face work:

2.5 hours face-to-face (approximately) your trainer will deliver practical training.
