Provide Advanced First Aid (HLTAID006)

Overview: 

This course gives participants the skills and knowledge required to provide an advanced first aid response, including management of the incident and other first aiders, until the arrival of medical or other assistance. The unit applies to workers who may be required to provide, coordinate and manage a first aid response across a range of complex situations, including community and workplace settings. Participants will learn how to utilise specialised first aid equipment; stabilise a casualty where medical aid has been delayed; maintain life in an unconscious casualty with the use of oxygen equipment; and operate a defibrillator unit in order to maintain life in an adult casualty in cardiac arrest.

Pre-requisites: 

There are no pre-requisite units required to enrol into this course under the training package, however participants must have basic computer skills and access to a reliable computer with internet and e-mail access. Participants must be able to bend and kneel on the floor to perform CPR for at least 2 minutes.

Licence & Regulatory Requirements: 

It is recommended by industry councils and legislation that this course is renewed every 3 years and HLTAID001 & HLTAID007 every 12 months to remain up to date with the latest guidelines.

On successful completion participants will be issued with a Statement of Attainment with the following units:

HLTAID007 Provide Advanced Resuscitation

Option 1:

Pre-course work:

Online/self-paced training (approximately 4-6 hours depending on the individual learner and their personal circumstances and other commitments) this training involves reading, activities and exams. Online training must be completed prior to the face to face training.

Face-to-face work:

1 day face-to-face (approximately) your trainer will deliver practical training.
