Childcare First Aid (HLTAID012 – was previously HLTAID004)
This course gives participants the skills and knowledge required to provide a first aid response to infants, children, and adults. It is most suited to educators and support staff working within an education and care setting who are required to respond to a first aid emergency, including asthmatic and anaphylactic emergencies. This course would also benefit sporting organisations or local community groups who do work with young children. Participants will receive practical hands-on training with a qualified trainer, to enable them to provide emergency assistance to young children until further help arrives.
Participants must have basic computer skills and access to a reliable computer with internet and email access. As an assessment requirement of the HLTAID009 unit, participants must be able to perform at least 2 minutes (5 cycles) of CPR on an adult, child and baby resuscitation manikin that is placed on the floor.
