This comprehensive and nationally accredited course equips participants with the practical skills and confidence to effectively respond to asthma, anaphylaxis, and cardiopulmonary emergencies across a range of workplace and care settings. By combining the 22556VIC and 22578VIC accredited units with CPR training, this course is ideal for individuals who require specialised medical emergency preparedness as part of their role.

Designed for childcare centre managers, educators, school staff, and workplace first aid officers, this training goes beyond general first aid. It focuses on identifying and managing common life-threatening conditions affecting children and adults, and aligns with industry best practices and regulatory obligations.

This course is particularly valuable for those involved in developing or overseeing medical risk minimisation and emergency response plans within education and care environments.

What You’ll Learn

22556VIC – Course in the Management of Asthma Risks and Emergencies in the Workplace

Recognise asthma signs, symptoms, and triggers
Administer reliever medications using spacers and inhalers
Implement asthma risk minimisation plans in the workplace
Respond to asthma emergencies using approved protocols

22578VIC – Course in First Aid Management of Anaphylaxis

Identify common causes and symptoms of anaphylaxis
Administer adrenaline using auto-injectors (e.g. EpiPen®) safely and effectively
Develop and implement workplace anaphylaxis management strategies
Follow emergency response procedures consistent with ASCIA guidelines

CPR – Provide Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (HLTAID009)

Perform CPR on adults, children, and infants
Use a defibrillator (AED) confidently and safely
Respond promptly to unresponsive and non-breathing casualties
Maintain airway, breathing, and circulation until medical help arrives

If you do not require CPR and only required the accredited asthma and anaphylaxis training, please enrol in our Asthma and Anaphylaxis (22556VIC & 22578VIC) training.

On successful completion participants will be issued with a Statement of Attainment in the following courses:

HLTAID009 Provide cardiopulmonary resuscitation
22556VIC Course in the Management of Asthma Risks and Emergencies in the Workplace
22578VIC Course in First Aid Management of Anaphylaxis

Participants must have basic computer skills and access to a reliable computer with internet and email access.

As an assessment requirement of the HLTAID009 unit, participants must be able to perform at least 2 minutes (5 cycles) of CPR on an adult resuscitation manikin that is placed on the floor.

Licence & Regulatory Requirements

It is recommended by the Australian Resuscitation Council (ARC) that HLTAID009 Provide cardiopulmonary resuscitation is completed every 12 months to remain current and update with the ARC guidelines.

It is recommended by industry councils and legislation that the Asthma and Anaphylaxis component is renewed every 3 years.

Option 1:

Pre-course work:

Online/self-paced training (approximately 2-4 hours depending on the individual learner and their personal circumstances and other commitments). This online training involves reading interactive modules and then using the knowledge learnt to complete exams. Online training must be completed prior to the face-to-face training.

Face-to-face work:

2.5 hours face-to-face (approximately) your trainer will deliver practical training.

Option 2: Group bookings – blended delivery or 1 day face-to-face.
