These nationally accredited short courses are designed to equip individuals with the knowledge and practical skills to effectively manage and respond to asthma- and anaphylaxis-related emergencies in the workplace or education and care settings.
Ideal for childcare centre managers, educators, school staff, and workplace first aid officers, these units focus on recognising triggers, minimising risk, responding to emergency situations, and confidently administering appropriate treatments such as reliever medication or adrenaline via auto-injectors (e.g. EpiPen®).
While HLTAID012 meets the standard first aid requirements for educators, 22556VIC and 22578VIC provide more specialised, in-depth training for those managing asthma and anaphylaxis risks at an organisational level. Completing these courses demonstrates a commitment to maintaining the highest standard of care and preparedness in your workplace.
This course provides targeted training in:
Identifying asthma triggers and symptoms
Using asthma medication, spacers, and relievers
Developing and following workplace asthma risk minimisation plans
Responding appropriately to an asthma emergency
This course includes practical instruction in:
Understanding causes, signs, and symptoms of anaphylaxis
Using adrenaline auto-injectors correctly and safely
Implementing workplace anaphylaxis communication and risk minimisation strategies
Following emergency response protocols in line with ASCIA guidelines

On successful completion participants will be issued with a Statement of Attainment in the following courses:
Participants must have basic computer skills and access to a reliable computer with internet and email access.

It is recommended by industry councils and legislation that this course is renewed every 3 years.

Option 1:
Pre-course work: Online/self-paced training (approximately 2-4 hours depending on the individual student and their personal circumstances and other commitments). This online training involves reading interactive modules and then using the knowledge learnt to complete exams. Online training must be completed prior to the face-to-face training.
Face-to-face work: 30 minutes face-to-face (approximately) your trainer will deliver practical training.
Option 2: Group bookings- blended delivery or 4 hours face-to-face.
