This qualification is suitable for individuals who already hold a Queensland Security Licence and wish to deepen and broaden their skills and knowledge in security operations and lead security teams in the field. It provides a pathway to further learning and work in various security roles and settings, including security risk management.
Security officers at this level provide leadership in a team environment, operate under limited supervision, and use discretion and judgement in known and unpredictable work contexts.
This course is also for participants wishing to apply for a Queensland Bodyguard Licence.
On successful completion, participants will be issued with Certificates in the following Qualifications:

Participants must hold a current Queensland Security Licence before enrolling in this course. If you do not currently hold a Queensland Security Licence, you will need to complete the CPP20218 Certificate II in Security Operations course before applying for your Class 1 security licence through the Office of Fair Trading (processing time is usually 4–6 weeks).
Other requirements for this course include:
Having the necessary English language skills to read, write, and communicate effectively, as well as access to a computer with internet and Microsoft Word.
Being physically capable of participating in defensive tactics training and techniques.
Licence & Regulatory Requirements
All Queensland Security Licenses are administered by the Office of Fair Trading. All participants are encouraged to read through the requirements of a QLD Bodyguard Licence Application, as there is additional requirements & fees payable to Office of Fair Trading.
For example, participants must be over the age of 18, must be a fit and proper person, cannot have had any Disqualifying Offences under the criminal code in the last 10 years.
Students who do not currently hold a QLD Class 1 Security Licence are encouraged to familiarise themselves with the application requirements for this licence.
Ongoing requirements:
To keep your bodyguard endorsement current, the Office of Fair Trading requires Crowd Controller refresher training every three years (including negotiation, empty-hand techniques, and first aid), as well as annual CPR training.

This course is delivered through a combination of online/self-paced learning and face-to-face classroom training.
Online Training: Approximately 15–20 hours per unit (15 units in total). Time commitment may vary depending on each student’s background and prior experience.
Classroom Training: 3-day, in-person practical session. These dates are not booked at time of enrolment – students will receive a prompt via their student portal once they reach a key milestone in their online work, directing them to contact us and arrange their practical training dates.
Online Component Details
Upon enrolment, students are granted full access to all course materials and assessments. Modules are sequentially unlocked—each new module becomes available after you submit your assessment of the previous one.
Students progress through the online component at their own pace, which includes:
Studying course material through the Certificate III in Security & Close Protection Operations Student Manual
Completing written and case scenario-based assessments
Students receive support from a qualified assessor via their student portal throughout the online training component.
Students have 12 months from the date of enrolment to complete all course requirements.
Classroom Training Dates
