This qualification is suitable for individuals who already hold a Queensland Security Licence and wish to deepen and broaden their skills and knowledge in security operations and lead security teams in the field. It provides a pathway to further learning and work in various security roles and settings, including security risk management.

Security officers at this level provide leadership in a team environment, operate under limited supervision, and use discretion and judgement in known and unpredictable work contexts. They take responsibility for their own outputs in work and learning, and limited responsibility for the output of others in the work team.

Please note that enrolling in or completing this course does not qualify you for licensing.

To obtain a security licence, you must first complete your Certificate II in Security Operations and then apply for your Security Providers Licence – Class 1.

On successful completion, participants will be issued with a Certificate with the following units:

Core Units

  • BSBFLM312 – Contribute to team effectiveness
  • CPPSEC3101 – Manage conflict and security risks using negotiation
  • CPPSEC3102 – Maintain operational safety and security of work environment
  • CPPSEC3103 – Determine and implement response to security risk situation
  • CPPSEC3104 – Coordinate monitoring and control of individual and crowd behaviour
  • CPPSEC3105 – Coordinate provision of quality security services to clients
  • CPPSEC3106 – Gather, organise and present security information and documentation
  • HLTWHS003 โ€“ Maintain work health and safety

Elective Units

  • CHCCCS020 – Respond effectively to behaviours of concern
  • CPPSEC3108 โ€“ Store, protect and dispose of security information
  • CPPSEC3121 โ€“ Control persons using empty hand techniques
  • CPPSEC3122 โ€“ Plan provision of close protection services
  • CPPSEC3123 โ€“ Implement close protection services
  • CPPSEC3124 โ€“ Prepare and present evidence in court

Participants must hold a current Queensland Security Licence.

Participants must have sufficient skills to read, write and communicate in English, and have access to a computer with internet access and Microsoft Word.

Participants must also be physically fit, and able to perform defensive tactic techniques.

This course is run as a blend of online/self-paced learning and face-to-face training.

Online training + 3 days classroom.

The online training is approximately 15-20 hours per unit (for a total of 14 units), however this greatly depends on the individual and their experience. Online/self-paced trainingโ€”this involves reading a student manual and completing written, case scenario and online practical assessments (using Microsoft Word). Online training must be completed prior to booking in for the face-to-face training. Students have 12 months to complete this course from the date of enrolment.

Support for this online training is done via email with an assessor.
