Fire Safety Adviser Refresher (Queensland)

On successful completion, participants will be issued with a Statement of Attainment with the following units:

• PUAFER001 Identify, prevent and report potential facility emergency situations
• PUAFER002 Ensure facility emergency prevention procedures, systems and processes are implemented
• PUAFER003 Manage and monitor facility emergency procedures, equipment and other resources
• PUAFER004 Respond to facility emergencies
• PUAFER005 Operate as part of an emergency control organisation
• PUAFER006 Lead an emergency control organisation
• PUAFER007 Manage an emergency control organisation
• PUAFER008 Confine small emergencies in a facility

Participants MUST provide a current Fire Safety Adviser Statement of Attainment (within 3 years from date of issue) upon enrolment.

• For students enrolling in the classroom training option, your certificate must be valid on the date of your selected scheduled course.
• For students enrolling in the online/self-paced option, all assessments must be completed and marked as satisfactory prior to the expiry of your current certificate.

Please note that we cannot issue a refresher Statement of Attainment if your current qualification has expired. In such cases, you will be required to complete the full course (additional fees apply).

Online / Self‑Paced Delivery Requirements

For students looking to enrol into the Online / Self‑Paced delivery method, please ensure you can provide the required workplace evidence. Students must upload authentic and verifiable documents that demonstrate their personal involvement in Fire Safety Advisor duties (e.g. reviewing an evacuation plan, completing a drill report, conducting an inspection, etc.).

Please refer to our Acceptable Evidence Guide before enrolling to confirm you have the evidence required for this delivery method.

Licence & Regulatory Requirement: 

In Queensland, the requirement for Fire Safety Advisers (FSAs) to complete refresher training every three years is stipulated in Section 34 of the Building Fire Safety Regulation 2008 (QLD):

Section 34 Appointment of fire safety advisers for high occupancy buildings

(1) Subject to subsections (3) and (4), the occupier of a high occupancy building must appoint a person who holds a current building fire safety qualification as the fire safety adviser for the building.

(6) In this section – current building fire safety qualification means a building fire safety qualification issued within the last 3 years.

Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL): Due to industry and/or licensing requirements RPL is not offered for this statement of attainment.
