This course is a combination of our nationally recognised Fire Extinguisher, Fire Warden, Chief Fire Warden training courses. This combined course is designed for persons who are required to perform the role of Chief or Deputy Chief Fire Warden at their workplace, but do not have the prerequisite unit PUAFER005 to complete this training. Participants will develop skills to ascertain the extent of onsite workplace emergencies and supervise evacuation of the workplace. Particular attention will be placed on meeting the requirements of Australian Standard 3745-2010 Emergency Control Organisation and procedures for buildings, structures and workplaces and how it applies to all workplaces.

Participants will have an understanding of emergency procedures and will undergo practical drills on controlling workplace emergencies. Practical scenarios will be completed which will simulate a workplace and the emergency evacuation equipment that is available. For group scenarios, Australian Training Institute can tailor this course to suit your workplace specific requirements and covers the following subjects:

On successful completion, participants will be issued with a Statement of Attainment with the following units:

PUAFER005 Operate as part of an emergency control organisation
PUAFER006 Lead an emergency control organisation
PUAFER008 Confine small emergencies in a facility

There are no prerequisite requirements for enrolling in or completing this course.

Licence & Regulatory Requirements

Fire extinguisher refresher training is required every two years to stay up to date with legislation, in accordance with:

While Fire Warden training (and the unit of competency) does not have a formal expiry, both the Building Fire Safety Regulation 2008 (QLD) and Australian Standard AS 3745-2010 recommend refresher training at least every two years.

This course is also suitable for use in jurisdictions outside Queensland, such as New South Wales. For specific requirements for your jurisdiction, please consult the relevant legislation and regulatory guidance from your jurisdiction.
