New Campus Open! Now located in Ipswich and Albion!
Upon successful completion of this nationally accredited online course, participants will gain the skills and knowledge required to apply risk management processes in operational mining roles. This certification is nationally recognised.
Topics covered in this unit include:
This unit is suitable for operational personnel who are required to have risk management competency but do not hold a statutory supervisory position. For example, workers managing tasks or hazards in their area may only need G1 to meet site or legislative requirements.
If you are appointed to a statutory supervisory role at a mine, you will need to complete the full Mining Supervisor qualification, which includes G1 (RIIRIS301E), G8 (RIIWHS301E), and G9 (RIICOM301E), unless you already hold the other two units.
For more information, visit the Commissioner for Resources Safety and Health website.
On successful completion, participants will be issued with a Statement of Attainment with the following unit:
Participants must have access to a reliable computer with email and internet access and Microsoft Word.
Licence & Regulatory Requirements:
To maintain competency and comply with legislative requirements, participants are recommended to complete refresher training every five years. This helps ensure personnel remain current with safe work practices, risk management processes, and any changes to legislative or site requirements.
While five years is the industry standard, some mine sites may require more frequent refreshers based on site-specific policies.
For personnel who hold this unit as part of a statutory supervisory role or other certificate of competency, completing refresher training within this timeframe supports compliance with the Coal Mining Safety and Health Act 1999, the Mining and Quarrying Safety and Health Act 1999, and s. 84 (1) of the Coal Mining Safety and Health Regulation 2017, which requires the site senior executive to provide refresher training at least once every five years under the mine’s training scheme.
Course Price $200.00
Fees include all assessments and resources needed to complete the course.
Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) is not offered for RIIRIS301E – Apply Risk Management Processes due to the safety-critical nature of the unit. Completing the full course ensures participants have up-to-date knowledge and skills to apply risk management processes in line with legislative and industry requirements.
