This comprehensive course is designed for individuals seeking to obtain a Queensland Security Guard (Employee) Weapons Licence and work in high-risk roles such as armed guarding and cash-in-transit (CIT) operations within the security industry.
Participants will gain the essential knowledge and practical skills to lawfully and safely use a firearm in response to life-threatening situations. The course covers threat assessment, risk evaluation, lawful use of force, and the proper maintenance, storage, and transport of firearms and ammunition in accordance with Queensland’s Weapons Act and industry regulations.
The training includes practical components relevant to Cash in Transit duties, such as:
Safe handling and protection of valuables during transit
Route planning and situational awareness
Risk minimisation techniques specific to CIT operations
Effective communication and coordination with team members and control rooms
Firearms categories covered:
Category C – Shotguns
Category E – Bulletproof vests and body armour
Category H – Handguns
Holders of a Queensland Security Guard (Weapons) Licence must complete annual recertification to maintain their authority to carry a firearm. If you already possess a current licence and need to renew, enrol in our Weapons Licence Annual Refresher Course.
On successful completion, participants will be issued with a Statement of Attainment with the following unit:

In accordance with Queensland licensing requirements, all participants must hold the CPP20218 Certificate II in Security Operations qualification.
Students who did not complete their CPP20218 Certificate II in Security Operations with us must provide a copy of their qualification for verification purposes.

Licence & Regulatory Requirements
To work as an Armed Security Guard or perform Cash in Transit (CIT) duties in Queensland, you must hold the appropriate security and weapons licences.
Participants are required to obtain a Security Guard (Employee) Weapons Licence to lawfully carry a weapon while performing duties for a licensed security firm. This includes roles involving Category C (shotguns), Category E (body armour), and Category H (handguns). However, please note that this licence does not authorise you to acquire firearms—only to carry and use them in the course of your licensed duties.

Note for International Students – we are not CRICOS registered, please check your visa requirements for enrolment. We cannot accept international students who are on a student visa if your visa specifies that you must study with a CRICOS provider.
Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL): Due to industry and/or licensing requirements RPL is not offered for this statement of attainment.
Pre-course work:
Online/self-paced training. This training involved reading a student manual and completing written assessments. Online training must be completed prior to the face to face training.
Face-to-face work:
5 days classroom (including a practical shoot at a range on the final day)
Due to the volume of online training required for this course, students are required to enrol at least one week prior to the commencement of the classroom training session.
