Security Guard Weapons Licence


This course is for those who wish to gain a Queensland Security Guard Employee Weapons Licence and work in the security industry as an armed guard. This course covers the outcomes required to determine when to use a firearm to respond to a life threatening situation. It requires the ability to analyse risk factors and intentions of persons and to maintain and store firearms and ammunition in accordance with legislative requirements. This course also covers the skills and knowledge require to present and control a person with a baton and how to restrain a person using handcuffs.

Those who hold a Queensland Security Guard Employee Licence are required to complete recertification annually to maintain their licence.


There are no pre-requisites under the training package, however for licensing requirements participants are required to hold a current Queensland Security Licence with Class: Cash In transit. If you do not hold Cash in Transit please contact us.

Licence & Regulatory Requirements:

All Weapon Licenses are administered by Queensland Police – Weapons Licensing. Additional annual training and renewal fees do apply.

On successful completion participants will be issued with a Statement of Attainment with the following units:

CPPSEC3008A Control Security Risk Situations Using Firearms
CPPSEC3014A Control persons using baton
CPPSEC3015A Restrain persons using handcuffs

Categories: H-Revolver and Semi-automatic Pistol, C-Shotgun & E-Body Armour

The following units will be issued as a credit transfer if participants hold these units already. Those that do not hold these units additional fees will apply.

CPPSEC3002A Manage conflict through negotiation (no more than 12 months old)
CPPSEC3003A Determine response to security risk situation
CPPSEC3007A Maintain security of environment

5 days Classroom

Classroom: $900 full course ($850 without Baton & Handcuffs)

Fees include all assessments and resources required in the classroom including the range

Note for international students – we are not CRICOS registered, please check your visa requirements for enrolment.  We cannot accept international students who are on a student visa if your visa specifies that you must study with a CRICOS provider.
