Security Guard Weapons Licence
Overview:

This course is for those who wish to gain a Queensland Security Guard Employee Weapons Licence and work in the security industry as an armed guard. This course covers the outcomes required to determine when to use a firearm to respond to a life threatening situation. It requires the ability to analyse risk factors and intentions of persons and to maintain and store firearms and ammunition in accordance with legislative requirements.

Those who hold a Queensland Security Guard Employee Licence are required to complete recertification annually to maintain their licence.

Pre-requisites:

For licensing requirements, participants are required to hold a current Queensland Security Licence with Class: Cash In transit. If you do not hold Cash in Transit, please contact us.

Participants must have sufficient skills to read, write and communicate in English, and have access to a computer with internet access and Microsoft Word. Mobile phones and tablets cannot be used to complete the online training component of this course.

Licence & Regulatory Requirements:

All Weapon Licenses are administered by Queensland Police – Weapons Licensing. Additional annual training and renewal fees do apply.

If you already hold a Security Guard Weapons Licence (QLD) and need to refresh, enrol in the Weapons Licence Annual Renewal Course.

On successful completion participants will be issued with a Statement of Attainment with the following units:

CPPSEC3101 Manage conflict and security risks using negotiation
CPPSEC3102 Maintain operational safety and security of the work environment
CPPSEC3103 Determine and implement response to security risk situation
CPPSEC3114 Control security risk situations using firearms
CPPSEC3115 Carry, operate and maintain revolvers for security purposes
CPPSEC3116 Carry, operate and maintain semi-automatic pistols for security purposes
CPPSEC3117 Carry, operate and maintain shotguns for security purposes

Pre-course work:

Online/self-paced training. This training involved reading a student manual and completing written assessments. Online training must be completed prior to the face to face training.

Face-to-face work:

4 days classroom (including a practical shoot at a range on the final day)

Due to the volume of online training required for this course, students are required to enrol at least one week prior to the commencement of the classroom training session.

Classroom: $1,150

Fees include all assessments and resources required in the classroom and at the range.
