Height Safety Equipment Inspection – Online Course

PUAEQU001
Cost $175

This nationally accredited training course is delivered entirely online and equips participants with the skills and knowledge needed to inspect, maintain, and test a variety of height safety equipment. The course covers essential tasks such as inspecting response equipment, testing its functionality, and cleaning, maintaining, and correctly re-stowing tools, devices, and equipment.

While the course provides formal training and certification in height safety equipment inspection, it is required that participants also have practical experience using such equipment. Real-world exposure—such as working on a construction site where height safety gear is in use—helps develop familiarity with common faults, signs of wear, and potential damage to look for during inspections.

An online practical assessment is included as part of the course. This involves submitting a video demonstration showing correct cleaning and inspection techniques.

The course focuses on inspecting standard height safety equipment, including:

  • Lanyards & harnesses
  • Slings
  • Rope (e.g. hawser-laid, kernmantle and steel wire rope)
  • Buckles, carabiners, mallions, scaffhooks, and snaphooks
  • Rope grabs
  • Helmets
  • Anchors
  • Fall arrestors (Type 1, 2, & 3)

Please note: Organisations may have specific policies that require additional training beyond what is covered in this course.

For more complex or specialised equipment, further training may be necessary. It is important to consult the equipment manufacturer to ensure you meet any legal requirements for inspection and maintenance.
