Students enrolling into the Certificate II in Transport Security Protection must have passed, or have applied for:

  • Either a ASIC or MSIC Job Ready Certificate (Background Check); or
  • When already employed, a ASIC or MSIC Card

Please click the following link as it contains important information regarding the ASIC/MSIC application, including identifying what type of card you require, information on issuing bodies, criteria for passing the check, reasons why an application may be refused and options if your application is refused. https://www.cisc.gov.au/information-for-your-industry/transport

Individuals undertaking this qualification must have passed a valid background check prior to accessing security-restricted resources associated with AVIG0001 Work effectively in a transport security environment (associated with the classroom training). Students that have applied for, but do not pass their valid background check* will not be able to attend the classroom training. Where this occurs, students will be refunded the cost of the course minus a 10% administration fee.

*If your application for an ASIC or MSIC is unsuccessful due to an adverse criminal record, you, your employer/agent on your behalf or your issuing body have the option of applying to the Secretary of the Department for a discretionary review. There is no additional cost for this discretionary review. More information about this process can be found in the link listed above.

This can be obtained by submitting an application to an ASIC/MSIC Issuing Body. Some employers may be Issuing Bodies or may have existing relationships with one. Please note it typically takes 8-16 days for your application to be processed.

Participants must also have access to a reliable computer with internet and email access to complete the pre-course online training. Mobile phones or tablets are not compatible with the online training portion of this course.
