Will your course certificates be recognised?

What is a Unique Student Identifier (USI)?

The Unique Student Identifier (USI) became a National Government initiative for all students as of the 1st January 2015. Your USI account will contain all of your nationally recognised training records and results, for courses completed from 1st January 2015 onwards. This will assist when you commence employment with a new employer or if you are commencing study with a new training organisation.

Every Australian Training Institute student is required to have a USI before their certificate can be issued.

Where do I find my USI?

If you have not completed any training after 1st January 2015, or otherwise do not yet have a USI, you can apply for your own USI using this link below:

Get a USI

If you have done training since 1st January 2015, you will probably already have a USI. To retrieve your USI, you can visit the above link and follow the ‘Already have a USI?’ instructions.

What is Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL)?

Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) is an assessment pathway offered by Registered Training Organisations for individuals to gain a nationally recognised qualification.

Generally, to achieve a qualification you would undertake a training program followed by an assessment process. The RPL pathway is a substitute for the standard assessment process for individuals who have gained the same knowledge and skills through their experience rather than through a training program. This process recognises that experience can be as valuable as undertaking training.

In cases where an applicant can supply evidence that aligns completely with the requirements of the unit or qualification applied for, ATI can issue the relevant Qualification or Statement of Attainment without the candidate requiring further training/assessment.

Do you offer Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL)?

We do offer Recognition of Prior Learning for some courses. If we offer RPL for a course the cost will be displayed in the ‘$Cost’ tab on that course page.

If you are unsure if we offer RPL for a course, feel free to contact us for more information.

I have a bad knee/back and cannot get on the ground to do CPR, is that going to be a problem?

The unit of competency requires that participants perform 2 minutes of uninterrupted CPR on a manikin placed on the floor. Without this being performed we cannot issue a certificate. The trainer will do everything they can to make it easier such as allowing extra time, providing a chair to assist in getting up or down or providing the opportunity to complete the assessment in private, however in order to issue the nationally recognised certificate they must see that task performed.

How long does it take to complete a course on first aid?

We offer a variety of first aid courses, including Provide Advanced First Aid (HLTAID014) with Provide Advanced Resuscitation and Oxygen Therapy (HLTAID015). A course in basic first aid (HLTAID011) will usually take 3½ hours of face-to-face learning. Other courses will vary in duration. Look at the ‘duration’ tab on each course page to learn more.

For many courses, participants are required to complete online training, which involves reading modules and completing an exam. This online training is used to reduce the time spent in the classroom and to familiarise students with content prior to coming into the classroom. Participants are to complete this online training prior to face-to-face training and assessment.

How much do your courses cost?

You can view the price of each course in the ‘$Cost’ tab on each course page. Alternatively, you can in touch with our staff on 07 3269 5005 for more information about our current course prices.
