CPP30411 Certificate III in Security Operations

Description

Overview: This course is for those who wish to apply for a Queensland Class 1 Security License with licence functions – Unarmed and Crowd Controller. Those who hold Queensland Security licenses are required to completed revalidation training every 3 years and hold a current first aid certificate. This course is suitable for people with life experience, and military or policing experience.

This license allows you to undertake employment as an:

  • Unarmed Security Officer Personally guards, patrols or watches another person’s property. They do this without a guard dog or weapon. This includes: in-house security (someone who guards, patrols or watches their employer’s property), a loss prevention officer, a security gate officer.
  • Crowd Controller Keeps order at a public place they can: screen the entry of people into a place, monitor or control their behaviour while inside, remove people for bad behaviour.

Pre-requisites: There are no pre-requisite units required to enrol into this course under the training package, however participants must have sufficient skills to read, write and communicate in English. Participants must also be physically fit, and able to perform defensive tactic techniques, and bend/kneel for at least 2 minutes. Participants must also have access to a reliable computer or tablet with internet for the pre/post course work.

Licence & Regulatory Requirements: All QLD Security Licenses are administered by Office of Fair Trading. All participants are encouraged to read through the requirements of a QLD Security License application, as there is additional requirements & fees payable to Office of Fair Trading. e.g. Must be over the age of 18, must be a fit and proper person, cannot have had any disqualifying offences under the criminal code in the last 10 years.

This course is run as a blend of distance learning and face-to-face.

Pre-course work:

Online/self-paced training- this involves reading, activities, watching videos and exams. These activities must be completed prior to the face-to-face training.

Face-to-face work:

6 days face-to-face (60 hours) – your trainer will deliver activities, case scenarios and practicals before you complete closed book exams.

Post-course work:

Upon commencement of your face-to-face training, you will be given access to case scenarios. These must be completed prior to receiving your certificate.

CPP20212 Certificate II in Security Operations

Overview: This security training course is the minimum entry level course for those who wish to gain employment in the security industry and apply for a Queensland Class 1 Security License with licence functions – Unarmed and Crowd Controller. Aviation / Screening Course

Description

Overview: This Aviation Security Course is a specialised security screening course. Participants will gain practical hands on experience in a simulated environment using industry specific equipment. Participants will gain the knowledge and skills to gain employment in airports, port facilities, court houses, cruise ship terminals, theme parks and mines.

Bodyguard (QLD Class 1 Licence)

Description

Overview: This course is for participants in the security industry wishing to add bodyguard function to their Queensland Security Class 1 Licence. A bodyguard’s job is to protect the personal safety of a specific individual. This unit of competency specifies the outcomes required to ensure the safety of persons at risk under various security assignment conditions. It requires the ability to plan and prepare security arrangements, implement security and safety policies during escort activities, and monitor and review the effectiveness of the security assignment.

Pre-requisites: There are no pre-requisites under the training package, however due to licensing requirements participants are required to hold a current Queensland Security Licence or completed a Certificate II or III in Security Operations.

Dog Handler (QLD Class 1 Licence)

Description

Overview: This course is for participants in the security industry wishing to add Dog Handler function to their Queensland Security Class 1 Licence. A dog patrol security officer handles a guard dog, which they use to help watch over a property.  This course covers the legislation, skills and knowledge required to train and care as well as handle and maintain dogs within the security industry. Participants are able to use their own guard dog or our experienced trainer brings their dog for use.

Pre-requisites: There are no pre-requisites under the training package, however due to licensing requirements participants are required to hold a current Queensland Security Licence or have already completed a Cert II or III in Security Operations.

A cash transit security officer carries cash, bullion, jewellery or valuables. Batons and Handcuffs

Description

Overview: This course is for participants whose employer requires them to carry Batons and Handcuffs whilst performing their security duties – those who carry Batons or Handcuffs must complete the required training and be authorized by their employer to carry and have a genuine reason to carry and use. Our experienced trainer covers the legalities and the skills and knowledge required to present and control a person using batons and handcuffs. Participants will gain practical experience using batons and handcuffs in a simulated environment.

Monitoring

Description

Overview: This course suits those that are required to complete monitoring duties as part of their employment. Participants will gain the skills and knowledge required to monitor the security of persons and premises from a control room perspective and maintain operational functions of an electronic reporting facility.

Pre-requisites: Not applicable

Licence & Regulatory Requirements: As of 1st July 2014 Security Guards are able to apply for monitoring function on their QLD Security Licence without completing any units of competencies.
