Work Safely in the Construction Industry (WhiteCard)

Description

Overview: This nationally accredited unit of competency specifies the outcomes required to undertake Work Health and Safety (WHS) induction training within the construction industry. It requires the ability to demonstrate personal awareness of WHS legislative requirements, and the basic principles of risk management and prevention of injury and illness in the construction industry. This course is commonly known as White Card training or formally Blue Card training.

All states and territories have agreed to implement the National Code of Practice for Induction for Construction Work which has been declared by Safe Work Australia. The result is a nationally consistent approach to construction induction training given to workers across Australia. It will also means that White Cards from any Australian state or territory are recognised nationally.

Pre-requisites: There are no pre-requisite units required to enrol into this course under the training package, however participants must have basic computer skills and access to a reliable computer with internet and e-mail access.

Units

On successful completion participants will be issued with a Statement of Attainment with the following units:

CPCCWHS1001 Work safely in the construction industry

 

Participants will also receive a wallet sized white card.

Duration

Option 1: Online / self-paced with 3 months to complete (approximately 4-6 hours depending on the individual learner and their personal circumstances and other commitments). This training involves reading, activities and exams. Learners are also required to complete a verbal assessment, and demonstrate putting on and taking off PPE, either via skype, FaceTime or in person at our office in Sandgate. You must book in a time when we have a trainer available and you must supply your own PPE if you are doing your demonstration via skype or FaceTime.

Option 2: Group bookings only- Face to face courses available in Queensland, New South Wales, Northern Territory and Western Australia.

Asbestos General Awareness Training (AGAT)

Description

Overview: This course aims to educate workers of the danger posed by Asbestos Containing Materials (ACM). Employers are required to provide awareness training to workers that work in environments where asbestos is present.

Part 8.5 (Asbestos at the Workplace), Division 2, section 445 of the Model National WHS Regulation 2011 states: “a person conducting a business or undertaking must ensure that workers engaged by the person, whom the person reasonably believes may be involved in asbestos removal work or in the carrying out of asbestos-related work, are trained in the identification and safe handling of, and suitable control measures for, asbestos and ACM”

Queensland Traffic Controller Course (Stop/Slow Bat)

Description

Overview: To become an accredited Traffic Controller in Queensland you are required to successfully complete an approved traffic controller training course delivered by a TMR approved training provider.

You must meet the following criteria:

Minimum 18 years of age;

have held an open or provisional driver licence (Australian or foreign) within the last 5 years;

Complete a Traffic Controller Accreditation Scheme Application declaring your offence history, your medical fitness and your training qualifications.

It is also a pre-requisite for a Traffic Controller working on a construction site (e.g. a roadway) to hold a White Card / Blue Card (Construction Safety Induction Card)

Interstate traffic controllers with current accreditation do not need to do this course but can complete the Traffic Control – Refresher course instead.

Renewal is required every 3 years.

This course is broken into two (2) parts:

Part 1: Theory

  • An 8 hr instructor led session including: lectures; group discussion; practical exercises; and a written assessment.

Part 2: Practical

  • One-on-one mentoring by an experienced traffic controller on a live job site. Participants need to complete a minimum of 20 hrs practical experience before being assessed. ATI will provide the practical placement for students. PPE is required to complete the practical placement.

1 day Classroom + 20 hours on the job industry placement

Queensland Traffic Controller Renewal (Stop/Slow Bat)

Description

Overview: To remain current, Traffic Controllers are required to complete a renewal course every 3 years.

Pre-requisites: Students must supply a current Traffic Control Industry Authority Card

Interstate traffic controllers with current accreditation can just complete this course

RIIWHS302D Implement Traffic Management Plans – Queensland

Description

Overview: This course is aimed at persons required to read, interpret, and implement traffic management plans and install / remove signs and devices in accordance with procedures set out in the Manual of Uniform Traffic Control Devices Part 3 (MUTCD) while ensuring traffic flow is maintained and safety of the public is maximised.

Entry Requirements:

Participants must supply:

  • White Card (Construction Safety Induction Card)
  • Current Drivers Licence

Note: To complete this course, participants will be required to possess a certain level of language, literacy and numeracy skills.

Part 1:   Face-to-face 1 day theoretical training and assessment. Upon successful, participants will be issued with a “Statement of Attendance”.

Part 2:    Practical Assessment on live job-sites. Participants are required to produce documented evidence/third party report of 3 separate signage setups of varying complexity on live job-sites. These setups must be completed in accordance with the MUTCD and submitted to ATI for assessment within three (3) months of attending Part 1 of this course.
Upon successful completion of the practical component, participants will be issued with a “Statement of Attainment” and a wallet-sized ID card.

Traffic Management Implementation Renewal – Queensland

Description

Overview: This course is aimed at persons that need to renew there Traffic Management Implementation in Queensland, you will be required to successfully complete the Department of Transport and Main Roads approved training program. Your Traffic Management Implementation qualification must be renewed every 3 years.

Entry Requirements:

Participants must supply:

  • White Card (Construction Safety Induction Card)
  • Current Drivers Licence
  • Produce a current Traffic Management Implementation Card or a current 30864QLD Level 2 card or evidence of completion of RIIWHS302D unit of Competency
